BELGRADE, June 27 (Hina) - Serbian President Boris Tadic's apology to the Croats for the evil done to them by the Serb people continues to cause debates in Serbia.

The apology, made in Zagreb last weekend, was welcomed by numerous parties, NGOs and individuals, with criticism coming mostly from the Serbian Radical Party and the Socialist Party of Serbia.

Tadic's office today denied claims in the Zagreb-based Vecernji List daily that during his meeting with Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Tadic had agreed that topics from World War II should be finally closed and that information on 700,000 victims of the Jasenovac concentration camp should be removed from Serbian history books.

At his meeting with Mesic, Tadic said that "every innocent victim is too important" and that "Jasenovac and other places of suffering must never be forgotten", as well as that due tribute should be paid to the victims and that the perpetrators should be brought to justice, the Beta news agency reported.
