"The apology was made at the right time... It is good that (Tadic) apologised to all who were wronged by members of his people," Mesic told reporters covering a regional energy summit in Zagreb.
Speaking in the Croatian Television talk show "Nedjeljom u dva", Tadic apologised to "all the members of the Croatian people whom someone made unhappy in the name of my people."
A precondition for the development of relations in the Western Balkans is that we all apologise to one another for the events from our recent past, Tadic said, adding that he expected leaders of other countries to follow his example and apologise to members of the Serbian people.
Mesic commented on Tadic's apology after a meeting with Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic, who also took part in the Zagreb summit.
The two presidents agreed that Croatia and Montenegro had good neighbourly relations.
