Former Slovene Prime Minister Anton Rop confirmed on said allegation published in in Slovenia's Dnevnik daily that in 2004 Slovenia's intelligence wiretapped Croatian PM Ivo Sanader's telephone conversations with incumbent Slovene PM Janez Jansa, at the time the leader of Slovenia's opposition, over incidents in the border Piran Bay in the northern Adriatic, and that Sanader and Jansa agreed those incidents.
In its note, the MVPEI said that such activities were harmful for relations between the two countries and absolutely contrary to international standards and practice, asking Slovenia to thoroughly and entirely explain these claims.
The office of the Slovene Prime Minister Janez Jansa asked on Monday that former Slovene PM Anton Rop and his party be held responsible for the consequences of these "untrue, harmful and insulting" statements.
Jansa's Office said in a press release that after looking into SOVA's documents, it found no proof of the alleged wiretapping of conversation between Jansa and Sanader.
