Sanader says verdict against Martic establishes truth about aggression on Croatia

ZAGREB, June 13 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said in parliament on Wednesday that the Hague tribunal's verdict in the case against Croatian Serb rebel leader Milan Martic, sentencing him to 35 years' imprisonment, "established the historic truth about aggression on Croatia by the former Yugoslav People's Army, Serbia and Montenegro and rebel Serbs in Croatia".

He stressed that Croatia cannot forget the crimes committed during the aggression, but added that "justice should do its job, both in the Hague and in Croatia, as well as in Serbia and Montenegro, the two countries that must process war criminals".

The PM said this in parliament during Question Time, after independent deputy Ivo Loncar asked him to comment on the Martic's sentence.

Loncar also wanted to know if Croatia would pay war damages amounting to six billion euros, requested by Djuro Trkulj from Novi Sad on behalf of former tenancy rights holders.

""Fantasies that Mr. Trkulj is talking about are nothing but an attempt to get money because he cannot jeopardise Croatia nor threaten Croatian prime minister and demand an audience that is not going to happen," Sanader said warning all former tenancy rights holders that cooperation with Trkulj could only cause them harm.
