ZAGREB, June 5 (Hina) - By the next school year, 20 schools on the
Adriatic islands off Zadar, Sibenik, Trogir and Dubrovnik are to be connected
with schools on the mainland through a broadband network as part of the
e-Islands project, for which the government has earmarked HRK 16.6 million, the
Central State Office for e-Croatia announced on Tuesday. The
project will enable remote teaching, because schools on the islands often have
one or two pupils in a class, and should also encourage people to stay on the
islands, the State Secretary of the Office for e-Croatia, Miroslav Kovacic,
said.
The Office also plans to connect all other inhabited islands through a
broadband network.
