have realistic foundations for a long-term economic growth, Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polancec said opening the national conference on the economy and entrepreneurship in the southern Croatian coastal town of Sibenik on Friday,
SIBENIK, June 1 (Hina) - Croatia does not need neo-liberal
capitalism, but a socially responsible economy, companies that will know how to
appreciate employees and acknowledge all interested parties and once we build
this system we have realistic foundations for a long-term economic growth,
Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polancec said opening the national
conference on the economy and entrepreneurship in the southern Croatian coastal
town of Sibenik on Friday, The results of Croatia's economic growth
in 2006 show that Croatia has a stable, fast-growing and healthy economy,
Polancec said.
Reiterating the most significant macroeconomic indicators from 2006,
Polancec said that a Gross Domestic Product growth rate of 4.8 percent was
possible on the long run and that the current unemployment rate of 11.2 percent
was the lowest unemployment rate in the past eight years.
He said that in the past three years 80,000 new jobs, 4,500 new
companies and 5,000 trade and crafts companies have been opened.
The traditional conference on the economy and entrepreneurship,
organised by the Economy Ministry, gathered more than 800 people.
The event will close on 2 June.
