This was said in Zagreb on Wednesday at the presentation of the publication called "Top 500" compiled by the business weekly Lider, the Financial Agency (Fina) and the Institute for Business Research (ZAPI).
The top 500 companies account for two thirds of the last year's profits of the Croatian economy and their exports made up more than a half of the total exports while their earnings accounted for almost of half of all earnings in the economy.
The newly created value of those top 500 companies in 2006 came to 8.1 billion euros, rising by 28.15 percent from 2005.
The share of small and medium-sized enterprises in the total profits of the Croatian economy rose from 26 percent to 36 percent over the last three years.
