BRNO, May 26 (Hina) - The Central European Summit that gathered 15 presidents of central European countries ended in Brno on Saturday afternoon with the conclusion of participants that countries in the region that have not yet entered the European Union and NATO should be supported in their integration with these organisations.

At a news conference after the summit ended, the host of the 14th CEI summit, Czech President Vaclav Klaus, said that all 15 participants in the summit had backed European prospects of the countries in concern.

However, the issue that elicited different attitudes was a final status of Kosovo which Klaus labelled as the currently biggest problem in the region.

Speaking about Kosovo, Klaus said he supported the international community's plan for Kosovo, but also the finding of a solution acceptable to all sides.

Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said the long term solution to Kosovo's status was a key issue for the permanent stability of the region and that it was in the interest of all that it should be just and acceptable to both Belgrade and Pristina.

The next CEI summit will take place in Macedonia.

Mesic said that Croatia had again received unquestionable support to its efforts to enter the European bloc and NATO.

On the margins of the summit, he met with the presidents Giorgio Napolitano of Italy, Lech Kaczynski of Poland, and Ivan Gasparovic of Slovakia.
