Kirsch informed Mesic of the work of this independent, permanent court that tries persons accused of the most serious crimes of international concern, namely genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
The ICC is based on the Treaty of Rome, joined by 104 countries, including Croatia.
Kirsch thanked Croatia for the support it had offered to the court since its establishment in 1998.
Mesic reiterated that the individualisation of guilt is of key importance for the further normalisation and rebuilding of stability in the region.
