ZAGREB, May 15 (Hina) - Croatia's Minister of the Sea, Tourism,
Transport and Development, Bozidar Kalmenta, and Bosnia-Herzegovina's Minister
of Transport and Communications, Bozo Ljubic, on Tuesday signed a protocol on
contact points on a future motorway along Corridor 5C, which runs from Budapest
via Osijek and Sarajevo to the southern Croatian seaport of Ploce, and a
future motorway along Corridor E661 from Balaton via Virovitica, Okucani and
Banja Luka to Split. On the Corridor 5C motorway, the northern
contact point would be on the River Sava near Svilaj while the southern contact
point would be at Bijaca - Pozla Gora. On the Corridor E661 motorway, the
contact point would be on the Sava near Gradiska.
The designation of the contact points will enable further preparations
to determine the locations of border crossings and build border sections of the
motorways, particularly key structures such as bridges across the Sava.
Kalmeta said that the protocol was a foundation stone for the
construction of the future roads, and that it was prepared by teams of experts
from Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Ljubic said that the Corridor 5C motorway was of strategic importance
to both countries and that it would play an important role in economic
development, particularly of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
