"I think it's good news, first of all for Serbia," Sanader told reporters at Zagreb's Mirogoj cemetery on Monday after a delegation of his Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party had laid a wreath at the grave of the first Croatian president Franjo Tudjman commemorating the 85th anniversary of his birth.
"Whoever they choose as a prime minister, a president or a parliament speaker, it's a matter for citizens of Serbia to decide," he said and added: "It's certainly good for Serbia to have a pro-European and democratic parliamentary majority and government behaving as we all do in Europe."
Nikolic, deputy chairman of the ultranationalist Serbian Radical Party, stepped down as parliament speaker on Sunday after pro-democracy Serbian parties managed to reach agreement on forming a government. Nikolic was in office only five days.
