The Croatian Croatian Competitive Council stated on its web site that "the main index of IMD evaluates competitiveness based on four factors: business efficiency, government efficiency, economic performance and infrastructure. Of these four factors, Croatia was ranked highest in infrastructure, where it occupies 43rd place. According to the other three factors, the country has fallen two places in comparison to last year. Croatia captured its only first place ranking among the 55 most developed countries in the world thanks to its excellent results in the tourist industry."
"Croatia registered its biggest improvement compared to last year in the areas of attracting foreign investment, price levels, the accessibility of venture capital, achievements in higher education, but also in an increase in the number of subscribers for mobile telephone services," the national council reported.
Poland (ranked 52nd) is immediately ahead of Croatia, while Indonesia and Venezuela are behind.
