ZAGREB, May 4 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks on Friday received Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom who arrived on Thursday in Zagreb for a two-day official visit.

According to a press release from the Croatian Sabor, Seks and Solyom agreed that the Croatian-Hungarian bilateral relations could serve as a model of well-developed good-neighbourly relations.

The two officials also pointed out the importance of the parliamentary cooperation for Croatia's efforts to join the European Union. In this context, it was reiterated that Hungary strongly supported Croatia's bid to enter the European bloc and NATO.

Seks also emphasised the importance of launching procedures for concluding cross-border cooperation agreements between units of local governments in the border areas of the two countries. He expressed hope that Hungary would step up the construction of its sections of Vb and Vc pan-European transport corridors.

The Hungarian head of state said that he backed those projects adding that the European Union attached great importance to cross-border cooperation and funded projects of that kind.

Later in the day, Solyom and his Croatian host, President Stjepan Mesic will visit the eastern Croatian towns of Orahovica and Osijek and the Kopacki Rit nature park.
