The south part of Sostariceva Street was renamed "Trg svibanjskih zrtava 1995." (May 1995 Victims' Square) in tribute to six persons who had been killed and 175 wounded, including 39 seriously, in missiles attacks on the Croatian capital launched by Serb paramilitary forces on May 2 and 3 in retaliation for a Croatian lightning offensive dubbed Operation Flash.
Serb rebel leader Mile Martic confessed on camera to having ordered the attacks, after which he was indicted by the Hague war crimes tribunal.
