ZADAR, April 10 (Hina) - The head of the foundation "For the Truth About the Homeland War" has said that so far about 7.5 million kuna has been donated to the foundation to cover the costs of the defence teams of Croatian Army generals accused by the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, except for General Ivan Cermak, who has said that he is able to finance his defence.

Ivan Curkovic said in Zadar on Tuesday that about 70 percent of the funds had been ensured by companies and institutions and 30 percent by individuals.

Ninety percent of the funds has been raised in Croatia and the rest are donations made by the Diaspora.

Some of the biggest donors are the soccer club Dinamo, the City of Zagreb, and the Croatia Osiguranje insurance company.

Curkovic presented these figures at a ceremony at which he handed letters of thanks to individuals and institutions in Zadar County who financially supported the foundation's work. The ceremony was held to mark the first anniversary of the foundation.

Curkovic said that the foundation would not interfere in the current disputes between the defence teams of the generals, who are awaiting trial before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
