VODICE, April 23 (Hina) - A seminar is taking place in the central Adriatic resort town of Vodice this week as part of continuing training for border police in the prevention of trafficking in human beings and illegal migrations.

The training programme is being conducted by the Ministry of the Interior in cooperation with the British government and the International Organisation on Migrations. Britain has set aside GBP 112,000 for Croatian border police training programmes.

The seminar heard that the Croatian police and other state institutions had already made great progress because the number of people caught crossing the border illegally declined from 24,000 in 2000 to some 5,500 annually in the last few years.
