ZAGREB, April 20 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament, acting on the recommendation of the Media Committee, on Friday relieved Danko Bljajic of his duties as a member of the Croatian Radio and Television Programming Council for physically assaulting a Council member and insulting other Council members.

The Parliament amended several laws, including the Science and Higher Education Act, prescribing equal requirements for EU citizens enrolling at Croatian universities once Croatia becomes a full EU member, and providing for the inclusion of military and police education in the higher education system.

The amended Air Traffic and Transport Act introduces operative licences as the basic requirement for the operation of air carriers in the EU, and establishes a Civil Aviation Agency.

Under the amended Pension Fund Act, the entitlement to the repayment of the pensioners' debt by the government will be expanded to include about 43,000 recipients of the highest pensions and family pensions.

The Parliament adopted the report on the measures taken in connection with air pollution caused by the Sisak oil refinery, committing the government to report to the Environmental Protection Committee on the problem every six months or sooner if necessary.

Proposed amendments to the Defence Act, the Military Service Act, the Pension Insurance Companies Act, the State Administration System Act, and the Electronic Media Act went into their second reading, while amendments to the Labour Act, tabled by the Social Liberal Party, moved into their third reading.

The Parliament concluded this week's sitting and is to reconvene next week.
