The two associations urged reinstating Bozic, saying that mistakes made in the procedure of replacement could be easily proven before a court.
The world and European federations of journalists and relevant EU institutions have been informed about the latest case of political pressure on the media in Croatia, the statement said.
To support claims that the case is politically motivated, the two associations said that a person with no media experience who used to work for the local branch of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) was appointed director of the radio station, while the post of editor-in-chief was taken over by a reporter who called on voters in a radio advertisement to vote for the HDZ at local elections.
Bozic was replaced twice in only one month. After he was replaced as director of Croatian Radio in Karlovac, he was also removed from the post of the station's editor-in-chief, the HND and the trade union of journalists said.
