The EFJ also supported the Croatian Journalists Trade Union (SNH) in negotiations with employers so that a national collective agreement for journalists could be reached and signed by the end of the year. The media's foreign owners were requested to respect in Croatia those rights and obligations they respected in their native countries.
The EFJ also supported the Croatian Journalists Association (HND) in its demand that local and regional media be freed from political pressure and that data on the funds that state companies spend on advertising in local media be made public.
HND vice president Zdenko Duka said the EFJ had also supported the demands of the HND and the SNH that the government help preserve Vjesnik daily as an independent medium and to "consistently settle the case" of the news agency Hina.
Tomorrow the EFJ will elect its main committee, president and financial commission.
