ZAGREB, April 11 (Hina) - The European Liberal Democrat and Reform
Party (ELDR) will hold a session in Zagreb on April 13, and on April 14 the
Croatian capital will host an international conference entitled "The EU and
Southeast Europe - Experiences", Croatian People's Party (HNS) leader Vesna
Pusic announced in Zagreb on Wednesday. Pusic said she saw the two
events as a sign of support for Croatia's efforts to join the EU, as well as
for the HNS party. Pusic was elected ELDR vice-president.
Around 120 European Liberals, many of whom are members of the European
Parliament and their national parliaments, prime ministers and deputy prime
ministers and presidents of important parliamentary committees, are expected to
attend, Pusic said.
The ELDR gathers 51 Liberal parties from more than 30 countries and is
the third biggest group in the European Parliament.
The conference "The EU and Southeast Europe - Experiences" will be
addressed, among others, by Romanian PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu.
