Speaking to reporters in the HSS headquarters, HSS leader Josip Friscic and HSLS leader Djurdja Adlesic said that talks between Agriculture Minister Petar Cobankovic and Lactalis, the new French owner of Dukat dairy company, was only an attempt to "put out a fire".
Although he is confident that such talks will ensure a social clause in the agreement on the sale of Dukat, Friscic believes that law makers should prevent the sale of strategic economic sectors, including the dairy industry.
He welcomed the government's announcement that it would not sell its stake in the Podravka food company and called for putting an end to the privatisation of other state-owned food companies and of power and water supply companies.
Adlesic said the two parties were not afraid of foreign investors, but that the government had to define conditions for selling its property, as well as privatisation goals.
