Novi Slankamen last week with persecution and murder, was taken before an
investigating judge on Wednesday on suspicion of spreading national, racial and
religious hatred, Radio Subotica reported in its programme on Croatia on
Wednesday. The arrested man is a younger person from Zadar, Croatia,
currently residing in Novi Slankamen, a town in Srijem from where a large
number of Croats moved out due to threats or pressure.
The incident took place last week when the young man, under the
influence of alcohol, entered the premises of the local Croat association and
threatened those present with persecution , saying that would all have to move
by 2008 and that he would burn down the premises and torn down a local Catholic
church.
