The president of the bishops' conference, Belgrade archbishop Stanislav Hocevar, was quoted by Subotica radio as saying on Friday that the attacks on the Catholic churches were damaging Serbia's reputation and prospects for EU membership.
A series of thefts and break-ins at Catholic churches in the northern province of Vojvodina have disturbed the local public, prompting the police to announce extra efforts to identify the perpetrators and shed light on their motives.
