At the memorial centre in Potocari, the European parliamentarians paid their respects to the local Muslim population killed in July 1995 and then met municipal officials.
Kacin said the objective of the visit was to urge the European Union to invest in the reconstruction and development of Srebrenica, where living conditions are still extremely difficult.
He said what had happened in this region during the war was an important warning to the European family of peoples.
According to figures provided by the municipal authorities, Srebrenica has a population of about 11,000 whereas prior to the war it exceeded 36,000.
Of the 9,000 housing units there before the war, only a little over 4,000 have been reconstructed.
