EU Council of Ministers urges Bosnia to meet requirements from SAA

BRUSSELS, March 5 (Hina) - Foreign ministers of the European Union on Monday welcomed the establishment of the new government in Bosnia-Herzegovina and called on the new Bosnian Council of Ministers to soon meet requirements from a Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA).
BRUSSELS, March 5 (Hina) - Foreign ministers of the European Union on Monday welcomed the establishment of the new government in Bosnia-Herzegovina and called on the new Bosnian Council of Ministers to soon meet requirements from a Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA).

The EU ministerial council urges the new government to ensure a speedy and efficient implementation of all the four conditions necessary for the conclusion of negotiations on the SAA.

Last December, Bosnia completed the technical level of the negotiations.

The EU, however, set four conditions for the signing of the document: police reform, reform of the public broadcasting system, cooperation with the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, and continuation of administrative and legislative reforms.

The EU council also took note of last week's decision of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) to extend the mandate of the international community's High Representative to Sarajevo until 30 June 2008 and the decision of the relevant EU committee to cut the number of EUFOR soldiers deployed in Bosnia from 6,000 to 2,500,
