Mesic's hosts voiced hope that Croatia would lift visa requirements for Albanian citizens, Mesic said in a statement for Hina and Croatian Radio.
He said Albania had cancelled visas for Croatian citizens and that his hosts felt Croatia could ease the visa regime in order to facilitate economic and all-round bilateral cooperation.
The two sides also pointed to the need of introducing air and sea transport as means to encourage cooperation.
Mesic said the Albanian PM had expressed his opinion on UN special envoy Martti Ahtisaari's plan for Kosovo, saying it was the only possible solution at the moment, that each side could be dissatisfied with certain parts of the draft plan and that nobody could be considered a winner or a side that has won everything it wanted.
The Croatian president also spoke at a presentation of the Albanian translation of his book on the break-up of the former Yugoslavia.
Tomorrow Mesic is due to visit the summer resort of Vlore.
