Addressing deputies in both houses of the Bosnian parliament during his official visit to Sarajevo, Rehn criticised local politicians of acting irresponsibly when it came to Bosnia joining the EU.
He said that the reforms launched in Bosnia had either failed or were being halted, adding that the work of the Council of Minister was blocked.
After talking to members of the Bosnian collective presidency earlier today, Rehn said that the technical part of negotiations on the country's Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union, launched in October 2005, had been successfully completed and that he was ready to recommend its signing as soon as the country meets conditions set by the bloc.
All countries that wish to join the EU must meet certain conditions and in Bosnia's case there are additional obligations concerning the police reform and full cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Rehn said.
