Kristo had up until now served as the Federation's justice minister. Her nomination was supported by the Muslim-Croat entity's upper house of parliament, which also endorsed the vice-presidential nominations by Mirsad Kebo of the Democratic Action Party (SDA) and Spomenka Micic of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina (SBiH).
The Federation's Constitution provides for the division of the three posts among representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina's three constituent nations, and the same principle also applies in the country's Bosnian Serb entity, Republika Srpska.
