The Croatian president recalled that the agriculture ministries of Croatia and Montenegro had reached an agreement for the compensation of damage for 840 head of cattle Yugoslav army forces had stolen in the Konavle area of southern Croatia during the 1990s war and that Montenegro had paid for the cattle.

Commenting on a heated debate in the Montenegrin parliament on Tuesday when the leader of the People's Party called for the dismissal of Assembly chairman Ranko Krivokapic over his statement that Montenegro should pay war reparations to Croatia, Mesic said that the opposition always have the right to criticise, but that they should also take into account what is good for their country.
"I think it's useful for Montenegro to cooperate with Croatia and for Croatia to cooperate with Montenegro, but if someone doesn't understand that, it's another matter," Mesic said.
