In an open letter to RAK Council chairman Neven Tomic that was carried by Bosnian dailies on Monday, AKOP Governing Board chairman Danilo Vujat said that RAK Director Kemal Huseinovic and his associate Dunja Mijatovic were responsible for problems in the broadcasting of TV programs from Croatia.
In 2006, RAK adopted a decision banning the broadcasting of HRT 2 programs by cable TV operators, giving as the reason lack of agreement on copyright issues.
After the problem was removed and the right to re-broadcast HRT programs was agreed with the HRT management, AKOP was still not given permission to continue broadcasting the programs.
AKOP warned that RAK was planning to ban the rebroadcasting of HRT 1 and Nova TV programs, which are very popular in Bosnia because of their quality and which are watched by most Bosnian Croats.
AKOP also warned that this was the first time RAK had raised the issue of copyrights for foreign television programs.
It urged the RAK Council to intervene promptly and prevent what it called politically motivated bans on television programs from Croatia.
