The conference has underlined the need to urgently prevent illegal fisheries, notably with regard to endangered sea species, Cobankovic said.
The meeting has also pointed to the importance of regional fisheries associations, eco-labelling and trade barriers in fisheries, reduction of fishing on the global level, and restricting illegal and unregistered fisheries, Cobankovic said.
The Committee on Fisheries is a body of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) established in 1965. Today it is a global forum which adopts recommendations for FAO member-countries regarding the management of fisheries and aquaculture.
