At a meeting of two delegations, Turkish officials showed a great interest in the Croatian tax system, the privatisation process, financing of major investment projects such as highway construction, and population policy.
Suker and Unakitan agreed that political relations between the two countries were excellent, but that economic cooperation needed boosting. In this context Suker cited the energy sector, shipbuilding, tourism, and transport as areas with potential for closer economic cooperation.
Unakitan thanked Croatia for its support to Turkey on the path to European Union membership, and Suker pledged further support. The Croatian minister thanked Turkey for supporting Croatia's efforts to join NATO and its application for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council.
Suker and Unakitan agreed cooperation between their ministries in the areas of taxation, state treasury and internal control.
In the afternoon, Suker was due to visit the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Treasury and the Central Bank.
The Croatian delegation ends its visit on Wednesday.
