Water management ministers from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine signed an agreement on cooperation in the protection of waters from pollution, Reuters said.
The ministers also agreed on cooperation in preventing the Danube from flooding.
The initiative to reduce water pollution was supported by the United Nations, the European Union and the World Bank.
Romanian President Traian Basescu pushed for expanding international cooperation in the fight against global warming as well.
