Media committee requests documentation of all applicants for Hina's Governing Council

ZAGREB, Feb 14 (Hina) - The chairwoman of the parliamentary committee on the media and computer technology has postponed the committee's session, due to have been held on Wednesday, until the government sends it the entire documentation regarding all applicants who have offered their applications for four posts in Hina's five-member Governing Council.

The committee was due to consider the applications of the four nominees proposed by the Ivo Sanader Cabinet, but chairwoman Zeljka Antunovic cancelled today's meeting with the explanation that the parliamentary body should get the applications of all who have applied after the Government announced vacancies in Hina's Governing Council.

Antunovic said that this was necessary for the committee's efforts to hold a high-quality discussion on the matter and added that when having considered the previous candidates for the Governing Council, the committee had been given the applications of all who had applied for those posts.

On 1 February, the Government proposed that Parliament appoint media expert Srecko Lipovcan, finance expert Aleksandar Adler, legal expert Gordana Carevic and IT expert Damir Pavuna as members of the Hina Governing Council.

Under the Hina Act, the Governing Council has five members -- a media expert, a finance expert, a legal expert, an IT expert, and a representative of the agency's staff. The government earlier nominated Vladimir Lulic as representative of the staff. Lulic was proposed by the Hina Staff Council.

Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks on Wednesday informed the parliament that the media committee had postponed the session until further notice.
