President Danijel Rehak told the press that the HDLSKL warned relevant bodies of Kojic's past last year but given that no one did anything about it, it was now resorting to the press because the HDLSKL felt it was not right that Croatia should have a judge who had been a judge in the Serb rebels' self-styled statelet within Croatia in the early 1990s.
Rehak also said that Croatian soldiers and civilians imprisoned in 1991 used to see Kojic in the Stajicevo concentration camp but did not know what he was doing there.
In a statement to the press, Kojic dismissed the accusations, saying they were part of a campaign against him which began a year ago. He denied having gone to Stajicevo or that he had supported the occupying authorities in the eastern town of Vukovar.
"I know the sources of (the accusations). I have proof and I will take action," said the judge.
