Judge Djurdja Jovanic, who was given the case, will schedule the first hearing as soon as possible, Srsen said.
Paul Dexter Farrow and Andabak are charged with having smuggled by ship 660 kilograms of cocaine from Ecuador via Gambia to the northern Croatian Adriatic port of Rijeka in the second half of 1999.
The proceedings against the two men were launched by the Rijeka County Court in January 2001 on the basis of an indictment issued by the County Prosecutor's Office.
The Rijeka court requested Dexter Farrow's extradition from Gambia, where he was at the time, as well as his questioning and delivery of documents related to the case, but Gambia failed to do so, Srsen said.
In 2002 the Croatian Foreign Ministry was informed that Dexter Farrow had been repatriated in 2001, but was released by the London High Court for lack of public interest, Srsen said.
In November 2002 the Croatian Foreign Ministry established that Dexter Farrow was in Spain and that Italy too was seeking his extradition so that he could serve a six-year prison sentence for involvement in drug smuggling.
Spain approved his extradition to Croatia in 2003, and the competent court in Italy approved his extradition last year, following a request by the Rijeka County Court.
Dexter Farrow is in custody in a Rijeka prison.
The first indictee in the case, Ivan Andabak, was earlier released pending trial.
