BRUSSELS, Jan 29 (Hina) - NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop
Scheffer has called on Kosovo's neighbours to support the proposal for the
future of the UN-administered province to be prosented by UN envoy for Kosovo
Martti Ahtisaari this week, the Associated Press reported on Monday.
Addressing reporters at a news conference with Macedonian President Branko
Crvenkovski, de Hoop Scheffer said that NATO allies supported the proposals to
be made public by Ahtisaari on February 2.
"We support his timelines and I think it is important that all
countries in the region do the same thing," de Hoop Scheffer said.
He added that NATO's 16,000-strong force was ready for any renewed
unrest in Kosovo and warned both the ethnic Albanian majority and the Serb
minority against turning to violence, the AP reported.
