Bosnian Serb PM's actions one of reasons for proposed extension of OHR's mission

SARAJEVO, Jan 25 (Hina) - Actions by the prime minister of the Bosnian Serb entity, Milorad Dodik, have largely contributed to the recommendation that the Office of the High Representative (OHR) prolong its term beyond June 30, keeping its existing extensive powers, High Representative Christian Schwarz-Schilling has said.

In an interview run in the Banja Luka-based "Nezavisne novine" daily on Thursday, Schwarz-Schilling said that Dodik was doubtlessly an able politician, but that he was also "playing with fire" because of his failure to appropriately respond to warnings he was being given.

Stating examples of Dodik's inappropriate behaviour, Schwarz-Schilling mentioned his recent decision to deny reporters of the national BHT1 broadcasting network access to officials of the Bosnian Serb government.

The High Representative added that Dodik's actions were also harmful for the position of the country's two entities because they gave other politicians reason to state that entities were a bad thing for the country.
