Consultations on the destiny of the OHR are under way, the German politician told the Sarajevo-based Dnevni Avaz daily in an interview.
In case of closure, the OHR would be replaced by the Office of the European Union Special Representative (EUSR), but that Representative would not inherit the powers of the current Representative in the adoption of laws and dismissal of local officials.
A final decision on the matter can be expected around 20 February, Schwarz-Schilling said, adding that developments in Kosovo might have some effect on it, too.
"As far as I am concerned, everything is crystal clear when it comes to Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina. I would not let the Dayton (peace accords) be undermined and in that regard I will act without hesitation," he said.
