MOSTAR/BRUXELLES, Jan 17 (Hina) - The European Union High
Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, and
the international community's High Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Christian Schwarz-Schilling, have dismissed any attempt to link the future of
Bosnia's Serb entity with the decision on the final status of Kosovo, the
Mostar branch of Schwarz-Schilling's office said on Wednesday.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is a recognised sovereign state whose territorial
integrity is guaranteed by the Dayton peace agreement, Schwarz-Schilling said
in Brussels, adding that Serbia was a signatory to the agreement and must
honour its international commitments.
The two officials' dismissal of a link between Kosovo and Republika
Srpska came in the wake of recent statements by Serbia's Prime Minister
Vojislav Kostunica and Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic to the effect that Serbia
could not be deprived of both Kosovo and Republika Srpska, and that if Kosovo
was entitled to independence so was Bosnia's Serb entity.
