"Our task is to go forward without delay and scheming," Kosor said adding that she was absolutely ready to take the reins of the government from Ivo Sanadr, who resigned as Prime Minister last week. In this context she reiterated her gratitude to Sanader for all what he had done,
Kosor said that her cabinet was braced for fighting against the crisis with all available instruments.
Speaking about Croatia's Q1 GDP drop of 6.7 percent, Kosor told the parliament that the Sanader cabinet should not be held responsible for such statistics as the global recession was shaking the entire world.
She pledged the continuation of the implementation of projects with the purpose of maintaining the labour market stability as well as the intensified development of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship and the infrastructure construction throughout Croatia.
Kosor said that her cabinet would continue Croatia's European Union accession negotiations, and expressed hope that Zagreb would wrap up the membership talks by the end of this year.
"Croatia will be a full member of the European family, a civilisation group to which we belong despite the historic irresponsibility of our northern neighbour," Kosor said referring to Slovenia's blockade of Croatia's EU entry talks due to their border row over recent months.
She underlined her commitment to the anti-corruption struggle and to social partnership.
She said that her government would work on safeguarding all minorities against discrimination and on creating prerequisites for the development and support to Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croat communities in other countries.
At the end of her speech she called on female MPs to use this chance and vote for her as the first female premier since Croatia gained independence.
