"Croatia cannot overcome this deep crisis without a new high-quality and competent government. The HNS is willing to be a part of that alternative," Cacic told a news conference which was held in the mountainous resort of Bjelolosica where the HNS leadership held a meeting over the weekend.
After the outgoing Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Wednesday that he would resign from active politics, the HNS chief Cacic described it as an act of cowardice.
Commenting on Sanader's speech at the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) convention on Saturday when he said that the HDZ was not a party of cowards but of brave people, Cacic said today that he stuck to his statement that "Ivo Sanader was a coward" and that he did not say that about the HDZ.
"Sanader has successfully contributed to the collapse of the rule of law, the collapse of the economy as well as of moral values in the last six years in Croatia," Cacic said.
The HNS parliamentary caucus's head, Vesna Pusic, said that Sanader "has run away without any word and explanation" when Croatia's strategic projects; the country's entry into the European Union and the economic growth were "absolutely in a crisis".
The opposition HNS said during consultations on the selection of the PM-Designate that it would not approve Kosor as the new premier and her cabinet.
