They attributed gains to mildly bullish export and sales data released this morning by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The USDA put new sales for the week ended Dec 12 at 165,900, 480-lb bales, bringing commitments-to-date to 3,721,600 bales. A monthly U.S. Census Department report pegged cotton stocks at factories and warehouses at 559,339 bales in November, down from 573,402 bales in October. March cotton ended 0.27 cent weaker at 75.80 cents per pound, traded 76.25 to 75.67 cents. The back months closed 0.40 higher to 0.15 lower. Volume was estimated at 6,500 lots. Market sources expect light and rangebound trade ahead of the Christmas and New Year's holidays. 201105 MET dec 96
