Raw cotton prices edge up in Europe, yarn follows LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, Dec 11 (Reuter) - Prices for raw cotton were up by 0.25-0.50 cents a lb, drawing yarn values up in their wake, industry sources said. Noting that demand for nearby shipment has kept its pace despite the uptrend, traders commented that the overall outlook for cotton in Europe appears brighter. Signs that supplies of Central Asian cottons are tightening have driven some spinners to source alternative origins, despite the production difficulties it presents. The supply problem issue is said to be largely the result of the continuing reluctance of sellers to commit themselves while concerns over future availability and quality hang over the Central Asian sector.
