They said some mills still required cotton for deliveries quite near at hand. In the absence of much selling pressure from Central Asia, buyers' attention turned increasingly towards Mediterranean growths, including Spanish and Greek. However, the most competitive cottons on offer continued to include African Franc Zone styles, of which further quantities have recently changed hands, in Italy and Portugal. Polish buyers may consider buying origins such as Greek and Turkish but their inclination will doubtless be to await the arrival of fresh supplies from Central Asia. 031121 MET oct 97
