Volume was estimated at 8,500 lots against Wednedsay's official 8,640 lots. The market set its 35-point trading range early and then drifted in slow rangebound dealings for the rest of the day. July cotton settled 0.02 cent weaker at 73.10 cents a lb, traded 73.40 to 73.05 cents. New-crop December went out 0.03 cent lower at 75.62 cents. Dealers said July will need to overcome 74.10 cents in order to attract fresh fund buying, but a lack of bullish fundamental news could keep the market in its recent sideways pattern. 061108 MET jun 97
