"The signature is important to Croatia because the agreement will make it easier to extradite people between signatory states, thereby helping in the fight against all forms of crime," Miljenic said after the conference.
The ministers discussed suppression of corruption, notably its cross-border aspects, and models of future cooperation and possibilities of improving it, Miljenic said, adding that the fight against corruption could not be successful if it took place in only one country, as the big corruption cases generally covered a number of countries.
The minister highlighted the discussion on urban violence and the role of minors as perpetrators or victims, saying Croatia was faced with this issue too.
He said modern technologies made it easier for criminals to communicate and warned about new forms of crime, to which young people were especially exposed.
