Nikolic said he expected Russia to help Serbia in its toughest moment "to overcome the barriers in the empty budget."
He said Serbia honestly cooperated with and relied on Russia in a wish to meet requirements to normalise relations in Serbia and develop democracy so that it could possibly count on being a member of the European Union.
Nikolic said Serbia was the only thing he loved more than Russia, adding that the most important thing was that Russia was a permanent member of the UN Security Council, and that he would never accept Kosovo's independence.
"That makes Serbia's fight easier," he said, reproaching former Serbian governments for never being honest with either Russia or Brussels.
Nikolic said Serbia had no enemies and that relations with Russia "will be completely open, as are those with the EU. The European Union will never hear a lie from me."
