The party said Leko's position put the government above parliament and abolished parliament's basic role and constitutional powers.
Leko yesterday rejected the party's initiative and its conclusion that the privatisation of the Croatia Osiguranje insurance company and the Croatian Postal Bank as well as motorway concessions would be unlawful because parliament had not adopted a state property management strategy.
He said the party was creating unnecessary drama, since the government had not passed any document regarding the privatisation of those two legal entities, and that even if it had, it would not have been unlawful, as the state property management law made it possible.
The Labour Party said in a statement such a response was shocking, inappropriate and unacceptable.
The party said it was incorrect that the government had done nothing about the privatisation, because it had begun seeking advisors for the sale of state property and motorway concessions.
The statement, signed by party president Dragutin Lesar, said the 2010 state property management law bound the government to propose to parliament a state property management strategy.
The party recalled that parliament adopted special laws on the privatisation of important companies such as the oil company INA and the HEP power company, and said that the acting parliament speaker had the duty to protect the Constitution.
