Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija told reporters in Sarajevo that the fact that someone was not convicted of a murder did not mean that he was not a mass murderer.
"Everybody knows who Radovan Karadzic is and the relevant court should be asked why some of his crimes haven't been proved," he said, adding that, nevertheless, he was in no dilemma as to the outcome of the Karadzic trial.
Officials of the Bosnian Serb entity and representatives of associations of wartime members of the Bosnian Serb army saw the ICTY's decision as a revision of previous verdicts against members of the entity's wartime military and political leadership.
The entity's labour minister, Petar Djokic, said the decision proved that Bosnian Serbs had fought for freedom and independence.
